If you’re making an international move, make sure that the occasion coincides with your first wedding anniversary. 10/10 highly recommend optimizing the excitement by boiling it all into the exact same moment. Luckily for us, the date also coincided with a date that was between moving trucks, so we didn’t have to focus on house jobs just yet and celebrated with a special meal at Enrico Leone. (Turns out that it’s the name of an opera, not the charming owner who also served us).
It also doesn’t hurt that the restaurant is next to Bukowski’s, a super sexy cocktail bar with delicious drinks, playing chill beats from the likes of The Internet. Vibes for sure. More on that another time.
The restaurant felt special in its ambiance- a little castle-like, lovily dressed tables, and gorgeous frescoes inspired by the Enrico Leone opera.

The charming owner brough us about ten kinds of homemade bread and tomato butter to enjoy as we perused the menu.

The amuse bouche, a small bowl of soup, was described as “the first garlic of our forest.”

There are many configurations of the Enrico Leone menu, but we opted for the four course tasting menu with wine pairings. It started with the best beef carpaccio that I’ve ever had in my life, paired with a local white wine.

The lobster bisque was a bit of presentation, with a bowl presented with generous chunks of lobster, then consumed with a perfumed broth poured from a small pitcher. The wine here was a Lugana and worked very well.

The main event was an Iberico pork filled ravioli on a pea puree. There were only three, but that was nearly too many as this dish was incredibly rich. I’ve never quite had anything like it, but it was incredible!

And finally, dessert was a passion fruit creme brulee served with a little vanilla ice cream (for some reason). The wine was a bit sweet for me, but The Husband, as always, lent me a helping gulp.

Truly, what a gorgeous dinner! It was wonderful to get dressed after an incredibly hectic week/month of moving jobs. Equally as wonderful was to order courses, not dishes and to be delightfully surprised dish after dish. Enrico Leone is an excellent special occasion restaurant in Hannover.
