The Husband walked in one day and asked me if I could take a few specific days off of work for a surprise. Luckily, my boss obliged and granted me the leave, so I could head to Ibiza (surprise!) for a last minute getaway. It was long over due to try out our new airport, HAJ, spoiler alert- it’s rather lackluster and even tinier than GVA- and head to the skies. We’ve managed an Ibiza trip each year of our relationship and somehow in those three trips managed nearly double the number of hotels, like we were trying to become island experts or something. The TRS hotel had been on my radar, but as it was an all-inclusive, I was never keen to book it because half the fun of going to Spain is tapas bar hopping for dinner and evening events.
Surprise! The Husband booked it thinking it would be a boutique romantic getaway after an absolutely insane year to date. Small and chill, it was not, but it was a great holiday nonetheless. TRS is excellently located in San Antonio, far from the grimy town and in walkable proximity to a few gorgeous beaches and classic institutions like Pikes, Mambo, and Cafe del Mar. We made sure to hit all of them for a grown-up’s trip to Ibiza- read no kids, no parents. It was exceptionally fun. We joined the ranks of the signature level (whatever that means) and had a small, but well-appointed room in a secondary building to the towering main.
The patio was spacious, excellent for drying swimwear, bed comfy, though missing a duvet, suddenly aircon has this DACH lady shivering. The room also featured a free minibar and bathroom appointed with L’Occitaine products. It was the perfect set up for just a couple day stay.
The grounds of the hotel were just gorgeous, wild with desert plants, a rooftop bar that rivaled any sunset bar on the strip, and immaculate spa of which I was lucky enough to try a massage and facial, both delectable. There are multiple pools, a main Vegas style insanity, rooftop, and private signature level or what I like to call the “reading with wine” pool, my favorite. Throw in a few occasion restaurants, a delicious brekky buffet, and you have the recipe for a really lovely long weekend. Not even a mosquito in sight.
If you’re wondering if TRS has me now marked as an all-inclusive lady, it definitely did not. However, sometimes these properties are essential to a care free vacation, and I appreciate it for being just that, exactly what it was.
