Montesol Experimental- Ibiza Town

The gentleman took me for a surprise stay in the Ibiza outpost of one of my favorite hotel groups- Experimental. He claimed it was a late birthday treat which felt ridiculous and wonderfully indulgent all at once.

Experimental’s hotel in Ibiza Town is in the storied Hotel Montesol building, so they kept with the name which felt like the right move for this special place overlooking the harbor to one side and an old town square on the other.

We were greeted with a cheerful color palette of a hallway, as vibrant as the Ibiza nightlife. It felt on brand with the group’s design decisions; nice to see this doesn’t change between properties.

Our room was gorgeous! Playful, yet calming. The bed was incredibly comfortable which was key after a night of dancing…as was the extremely useful overhead fan.

The nightstands had the trademarks of a design-y hotel. (I still don’t understand this trend toward pencils).

A quirky couch made for a good resting place for our shopping.

The small desk was perfect for not doing work and how could you under such a darling moon-shaped window?

The room overlooked the town square below, but there were strict marching orders on the doors that we were not to even think about walking out on the tiny balcony. Not sure what that was all about.

The bathroom was spacious, but a bit cold and slippy.

Matching bath robes adorned with the charming sun and moon theme were a huge hit and welcome after one of seemingly a hundred showers taken as respite from the extreme heat and dancing.

The other side of the cutie moon window was in the shower as it turns out. I love a celestial theme, so this really did it for me.

Cheeky pottery by local artisans adorned shelving by the front door.

Even the walls had thoughtful details that integrated well with the location- it’s what I love so much about the Experimental Group.

Similar to Menorca Experimental, the room was heavy on storage and bar area.

Automatic lights and plenty of hanging space made it easy to feel at home.

I’ve not tried their bottled cocktails, but there were plenty.

And the mini fridge had every other tipple under the sun.

Prior to dinner we kept our reservation at the rooftop bar and it was good we did as even though it was not packed, staff was turning people away to keep the vibe. A DJ spun chill beats while we overlooked the oldest part of the city.

After a night of dancing, we rolled out of bed and down to the square for sunshine and a late brekky.

The brekky includes about anything you could want from the menu so we opted for open faced toasts with poached eggs, freshly squeezed juices (including ginger!), and a giant iced coffee.

The hotel was such a treat and even though there was not a pool like some of the other nearby spots, I don’t think we missed it as we enjoyed all the other pieces that Ibiza Town had to offer.
