Hotel Spinerola- Moncalvo

My first thought when writing this post is that I don’t want to. This place is so special, I almost hate to let this little secret out of the bag… but I will. Looking for a wine themed long weekend in driving distance of Geneva, we stumbled upon Hotel Spinerola in Moncalvo.

This only three star hotel felt far more luxurious with its exceptionally personal service, clean room, and well-designed spaces. The lobby sets the tone perfectly.

Just off of the lobby is the wine tasting room and wine shop filled with local delights like hazelnuts, risotto, house made olive oil and sausages.

While there are a few chairs for inside seating, sea

The bed was perfectly cozy and featured a skylight perfect for listening to the morning rain before it subsided in the place of a low, early autumn fog.

The room was spacious to accommodate a strange amount of luggage we brought with us thanks to book ended work trips.

A safe and plenty of storage also punched above their glass.

The minibar was the most Italian that I’d seen- absolute regional charm.

A small desk was perfect for displaying charcuterie and vino as no work would be had.

The bath was spacious and featured daily replenishment of C.O.Bigelow products. We opted for a room with a jacuzzi tub rather than a shower and it paid off handsomely.

The courtyard made for a stunning centerpiece to the hotel and would be the perfect location for a grand party.

Tucked into the wild, yet well-maintained , were a few tables and the perfect location for 5:00 wine tasting of the hotel’s vineyard’s offerings.

The hotel was flanked by beautiful vineyards adorning rolling hills with the town of Moncalvo securing the picturesque scene in the background.

A pool, a step down the hill was the crown jewel of the outside space; it’s icy waters offering an afternoon refresh and incredible views of the Piedmontese hills.

The dining area brought the outside in with vines draped throughout the space.

Breakfast included charcuteries, gorgeous tomatoes plucked from the vibe and served simply with house olive oil and sea salt. The large lemons weren’t too bad either.

Breakfast cakes were also prevalent and the lemon one was a true standout whose recipe I intend to track down.

Hotel Spinerola was a perfect weekend getaway. The staff, location, rooms, and service made it non comparable to anywhere else we’ve been. Secret locations are true treasures, so please keep mine that way.
