Wicked Fish- Stratford

One sunny, London summer evening found us strolling along the canals near Stratford. The destination in mind was the Hackney Wick for a pint or two. Surprised to find that it was closed for the filming of a rom-com, we tried a few other spots before realizing it was time to find some food. Pubs not nearby, we opted for the Wicked Fish, conveniently located among the numerous bars of the area. The place is tiny, like 2 tables inside tiny, but wow oh wow, does it pack some flavor.

While drinks are served in plastic in keeping with the very casual surroundings, you won’t mind because the food is so indulgent, wickedly good. First up were the truffle parmesan fries that we shared.

Despite being called Wicked Fish, we both went for chicken burgers that seemed to be deep fried in the way that fish and chips might. Dayummm. I never eat things like this, but it tasted so indulgent and satisfying after a long day of travel and a few drinks.

They also do burgers, fish (of course), and lobster- of which they claim to only sell about two per day. Whatever the case, this is an easy Hackney/Stratford staple to add to the rotation.
