Recently I spent a week in Munich for a tradeshow and as always, I am excited to discover a new place, but this was a weird one for me. The hotel designated by work was in a rough area. Think ladies of the night buying cheap gold jewelry, or gambling, or hitting a kebab shop. This train station areas just had a really dodgy vibe and despite a few team activities, I wasn’t inclined to leave it for dinner to return back solo in darkness. Lucky for me Mia Trattoria, was just down the block and I managed two lovely meals there.
Munich was right hot this week, 100F+ for the Euro heatwave, and it seemed inside of places was often hotter than outside. Mia was a respite from both the heat (well, barely) and the dodgy train station street as it offered a walk through a chic interior to a hidden courtyard that brought safety and an occasional breeze.

At one of my visits I treated myself to a large Cesar salad and truffle fries, meant for more than one person, but no menus ever package themselves in this way so here we are.

The crisp Italian whites came accompanied by an ice bucket nearly the size of them, which I greatly appreciated.

For the second seating, I enjoyed the pinsa that Mia is famous for. Their menu is some great marketing as it describes in detail all the health benefits of their pinsa versus a more traditional one. As it was essentially billed as a health food, I had to try it, and with toppings I would never have at home since they aren’t to The Husband’s liking. This was super delicious and I could immediately feel the health benefit: happiness.
