As an impressionable 14 year old, already with a strong taste for travel and art, I fell in love hard for the exhibition “Chihuly Over Venice.” Desperate to see the gorgeous glass baubles tossed into canals and displayed juxtaposed in crumbling courtyards, I poured over books and articles, enjoying each delicious artistic morsel. Never did I think I’d have the chance to see this for myself, so I was thrilled to learn that Chihuly was creating a small reprise just in time for the thirtieth anniversary of the original installations.
Casually, I said to my Dad that he should consider surprising my Mum for her birthday…I was just as surprised that they decided to take the very long journey across the pond to see the installation for themselves. It was a lovely long weekend of delicious food, abbreviated installation, and rather great company.
