The Stratford- London

There’s a new five star on the block and she’s actually affordable, welcome into the London rotation, The Stratford. While I wasn’t originally keen on staying just outside of the central city, this hotel certainly fits the bill- designy, bustling lobby, comfortable, clean rooms, and a delicious breakfast cooked to order. The neighborhood is full of shopping and restaurants and thanks to the Elizabeth Line, the area is more accessible than even central London via Paddington Express. Win, win, win.

Here’s a snap of the lobby early in the morning. Evenings bring dj’s, live music, and plenty of groups ripe with conversation.

There’s a resto on the 7th floor that we never made it to, and a garden that does pizzas and grilled meats on Sundays. Incredible.

The brekky menu is extensive and more creative than just your regular full English. On day one, I opted for the shakshuka which was incredibly flavorful and filling.

The standard room was clean, cozy, and bright. Not too many design elements and really was just the perfect place to crash after a long day of walking.

A small desk area allows you to work if you must.

An extensive coffee and beverage station offered anything you could desire. If not, there’s a special bottle of Billecart-Salmon at the bar we had not previously experienced. Delicious!

While the room came with the obligatory robe and slippers….it also came with a hoodie! Not sure if this was to buy or wear if you were stuck in a business suit wardrobe, but it was a fun touch.

The bathroom was a proper shower a wee bit of counterspace, but again it was CLEAN.

Our view was the hotel across the street and a bit of a yard that could use some attending. The whole area feels like its on its way to a big glow up with a huge shopping center nearby. It’s also an easy walk into Hackney if you’re craving a bit more of London London.

Overall, we loved the property and look forward to another stay when we can try the resto as well as the acclaimed cocktail bar that never seemed to be opened during our stay. At a great price of $190 per night and direct transit to the central city and Heathrow, The Stratford really can’t be beat.
