The coziest evenings in Switzerland demand the coziest of cheese caves, which is precisely how Saturday night date night turned into a subterranean wine and fondue fiesta. The cave is located charmingly in the basement of the castle with a menu that specializes in local cheese is various forms of “hot” and local white varietals in various shades of yellow.

We opted for one of the better fondues that I’ve had this side of Switzerland, a cheese blend dotted with cloves of garlic, lardons, and a heavy dose of tomatoes. It also comes with a side car of “hot” peppers- Swiss hot anyway- we dumped them all in and the flavor was ever so slightly kicked up a notch.

Served with bread and potatoes, the meal sounds like stereotypical tourist fare, but truly is the date night of the region. Reserve a table and come in your comfiest pants. Oh, and the wifi signal is dodgy so be sure to bring a chatty friend too.
