Tapas- St. Anthony, Ibiza

on

With the need for a pre-dance party fueling (because that’s what you do at 40, as it turns out), we headed to the best rated Tapas spot in Saint Anthony, the brilliantly named, Tapas. We set off for a long walk on a rather dark road and eventually found this beacon in the darkness. It felt like a strange locale for a resto, but sometimes beachy destinations are like that.

I liked out waiter immediately as he quizzed us on remembering his name. When I asked him back about ours, he claimed we never introduced ourselves, which of course was true and now has me introducing myself back to waitstaff.

We started with the octopus which was served Ibiza style, over a bed of tomato pico de gallo. Not great as we both agreed we much preferred Gallacian octopus which comes with oily boiled potatoes and a healthy dose of paprika. Alongside we tried the patas bravas which were really not great. The vibe and service of the resto was great, the food, maybe not worth the long walk trouble.

We ventured into garlic shrimp territory too as we’d been impressed by them a few days ago. They were probably the best thing we ate after the eggplant dip starter (not pictured, due to it’s yumminess).

Finally, as we were headed out dancing, we opted for carajillos which again, were absolutely terrible. Quite a disappointment!

Tapas are a dime a dozen and Tapas was certainly no standout. It scares me a bit about the other restos in this town if this was meant to be the best, but I suppose what do you expect from a town of nightclub destination.
