This is the third review of Ristorante Riviera and it still racks up as one of my top favorite Venetian restaurants. We scored a canal-front table on an unseasonable warm October afternoon and started with a glass of Franciacorta. Why does wine always taste better on the water?

The first course is my absolute favorite pasta I’ve found in the city, a spicy mini rigatoni with just a bit of beef and (surprise) olives! Incredible. The pasta is cooked to perfection and the whole dish has the best al dente bite and flavor. The Gentleman’s fork definitely found it’s way into my dish more than once.

For a second plate, the octopus was on my radar after tasting this when the Gentleman ordered it last visit. Colorful, elegant, and delicious. I could eat this every day!

The Gentleman opted for the steak which he kindly shared more than a bite of with me and, again, like every dish I’ve ever tried on their menu, was perfectly executed.

Spinach and potatoes to share, why not?

Their tiramisu is my favorite I’ve ever had, so that of course had to be shared. I love the deconstructed nature and there is a salty element that I just ADORE. The yacht in the background somehow enhanced the flavor or at least the photo.

Finally, a fun topsy turvy tumbler of Amaro di Capo to closeout the indulgent pre-race lunch. Incredible as always!

The presentation of the octopus is stunning!
