The Galmont Hotel & Spa Galway

Last week was a whistlestop tour of Ireland and tagging along on the Gentleman’s work trip was a great chance to see a bit more of the country. Our first stop was a 2.5 hour trip from Dublin, Galway. After traversing the country, it was a relief to arrive at The Galmont Hotel and Spa, well-situated on the outskirts of the city center. After the long travel day, the large gym and spa was a welcome reprieve. Note to travelers- this hotel requires swim caps for the pool (a first for me) and despite having my own for weekly swims at home, I was forced to buy the 3 EUR janky hotel one, so, be sure to bring your own if you have one. The whole situation was made extra ironic, as this was perhaps the dirtiest pool I’d ever seen- hair and plasters galore! Disgusting and the swim didn’t last long. It’s not required to use in the Jacuzzis which made the outdoor pool overlooking the water that much more enjoyable.

The room was the kind of standard, chain hotel room, not great, not bad, did a job. The lobby was lovely and the bartenders at the lobby bar, more than generous. Breakfast was also abundant and despite being rammed with throngs of retired on tour the second day, the restaurant remained clean and organized. I’d recommend The Galmont overall, but would advise you skip the pool unless the hotel can get it cleaned right up.
