Salute Palace- Venice

on

Few photos of the Salute Palace as it was hands down the worst Venetian hotel we’ve tried. That’s saying a lot given that we cashed in points to book it at no cost during carnival!

Despite saying we were celebrating our engagement and looking for venues for a wedding meal- the hotel did absolutely nothing. They seemed so self consumed with navigating their system to the new ownership the next day, they barely looked up at their guests. And despite asking for an early check in months ago- I realize this is not a given- we arrived at 3:30 and even then the room would not be ready until after check in time, 4:30pm. For the postage stamp size of the room, this was a surprise.

Small room, fine… but the bed and pillows were exceptionally hard. The room was exceptionally hot and when we asked for the heat to be turned down or air on, we were told this was not possible and we could only open a window, which we did. Despite keeping the curtains closed, we were the feeding ground for hungry mosquitoes that soon flooded the room. In the morning we were awoken by garbage drops and the sounds of humans despising of them, right outside our window. Romance is indeed dead at Salute Palace.

The bathroom was whatever and the shower required the engineering intervention of the Gentleman to function.

When you’re awake with the garbage, you do get a lovely sunrise, but it’s not enough to make up for the many fails of this hotel. Don’t waste your money, even if it’s free like ours was.
