A year later give or take and it was about damn time for that delectable soup a l’ognion at Chez Fernand! I’d been dreaming of this day! A few minutes walk from the new BubbleBliss for our apero, we much preferred an old standard loved by many to an IG hyped spot. But, we were just coming off of hosting Christmas so we could have felt like (tired) lovely old standards more than IG “glam.” So out with the hype and in with the bites!

Not pictured. Shame on me… was the soup I’d talked about for a YEAR. Pictured here instead, looking just as fine. While delicious, I can’t say my hair was quite blown away as last visit, but a year is a long time to build something up!

As a main we shared a giant steak for two which came with a bowl of skinny fries and the thickest (and most delicious) Bearnaise sauce. Heaven.

And as we had a seperate stomach for dessert and another favorite of mine was on the menu, we had to have a nip of Chartruse (not again, thanks) and share the Paris-Brest. The abundance of hazelnut cream was somehow light and the pastry perfectly crunchy. A wonderful finale.

Chez Fernand still ranks high in my book for a perfect Paris bistro indulgence. There are only two seatings at 7 and 9PM so be sure to book as we saw many walk-ins turned away at the door.
