On my actual birthday, we were flying back through Bilbao so after ditching the rental we headed into the city for a few hours of museums, shopping, and one final, indulgent lunch to keep us fueled through the day including a very lackluster airport lounge. Aftera quick Google recon, we landed a Mio Basque Urban Food due to its rave reviews. Upon entering the funky, jungle themed decor we were greeted with a packed space full of locals- great for people watching!
We started with the housemade croquettes some of which were ham and others mushroom-y. They were good, very filling, extremely creamy but the flavor didn’t really pack the punch we had hoped for.

On the last day, of course we needed one last round of ham. The plating was beyond creative. I’ll let the photo speak for itself.

And we finally got our sharing steak! It was recommended to be cooked medium, but we went medium rare which seemed approximately blue! Oh la la. Luckily, it was delicious and we loved their use of salt and more wonderful, roasted peppers.

For booking on a whim, we really enjoyed this over-the-top meal. The service was excellent and I’d look forward to a return visit to try a few more dishes.
