I’ll never forget the midday text I received from The Gentleman back in January. “Geneva is starting flights to Rhodes and the first one is $19 round trip. Should I book?” Naturally, the answer was a resounding, “of course!” A few hours later, I would find out that my job was made redundant… Sh*t…maybe that answer should have been a ‘probably not’ as we already had quite a bit of travel booked for the year. The universe has a funny way of closing out chapters as the day we flew to Rhodes turned out to be my very last day with the company, officially.
Doing none of my usual travel recon, I left it all with The Gentleman and kind of put the trip out of my head. I’m lucky to have a partner who shares in planning which makes surprises even more surprisier and wonderful. After a few delays and a flooded airport control tower, we switched airports and finally made it to Rhodes at midnight (12 hours late!). We were greeted with a friendly front deskman, quiet lobby, and glasses of prosecco.

The lobby had some cushy couches straight from the 80s, yet it was all very clean and the rest of the place had better vibes.

The Gentleman housed us in a junior suite overlooking the city. The whitewashed room was spacious and bed very comfy. Not sure about the random two chairs, but they worked well for holding beach bags and hats.

The bathroom was small but manageable with it’s cruise ship shower, though with surprisingly good pressure for knocking rocks and sand out of parts of you that you didn’t know could house such a thing.

The terrace was quite large although it featured a tiny table and small hanging line for wet swimming costumes.

The breakfast, bar, and service was wonderful. While the pool was clean, it didn’t get much sun, but the proximity to the beautiful nearby beaches was the real attraction anyway. I’d definitely recommend Rhodos Horizon City for your next bookending a chapter of your life shut in a most beautiful way.
