Nawa- Fort Wayne

on

On an exceptionally rainy evening in the Fort Wheezy (that’s Fort Wayne or the L’il Wayne) of Indiana, there’s not much else to do than to head over to a space themed bar and have the greatest cocktail of your life with your siblings- so that’s precisely what we did.

I’m talking a perfect blend of mezcal, orange sparkling water, and lime (I think they tossed in some agave too) rolled in the most glorious and glamorous celery salt sugar mix. What an idea! I’ve successfully recreated this at home and it will be the drink of summer…name and proper recipe coming soon.

After not enough cocktails, we headed over to Nawa which is a bit famous in my family, but it was my first time. A moody, quirky dining room gave vibes of a bigger city and a later Friday night. We started with all the snacks- namely bao buns of duck and pork and summer veggie rolls.

The standout were the pork baos and not just because they came with umbrellas, well adept for this weather.

For the main, I opted for their famous drunken noodles with shrimp. The portion was seriously abundant and the “medium” spicy sauce definitely packed a bit of a punch. Would definitely order this again.

Looking forward to a brighter day back at Nawa where the bao buns wear more umbrellas on the darling patio than patrons in the current rainstorm.
