Cascina Doss, A Culinary Gem in Iseo

on

My favorite meal of our trip was at Cascina Doss, an easy (though dark) five minute walk from the Iseolago hotel. The simple farmhouse facade opens into a courtyard and exceptionally cozy restaurant with white table cloths and wood burning fire. The vibe was very romantic and was full of locals and a waitstaff whose language forte was not English. I instantly loved it.

Central Switzerland cuisine has a strong focus on lake fish, so I am always happy to find scallops on a menu. These were gorgeous, so simply seared and plated on a pea coulis, complemented with caramelized cippolino onions and caviar. If heaven was a dish, this could be a contender.

For my second plate, I chose the homemade egg pasta topped with truffles. It was so simple, but soooooooo delicious! I could eat this every single night. I also appreciated the modern art masterpiece vibe of the presentation and truffle shaped plate.

To close, we were between “fluffy” tiramisu and ice cream churned to order. As it is the tail end of the self-proclaimed ‘year of the pistachio,’ of course we had to give that a try. While it was very nice, it was an absolute shadow to a gorgeous meal.

Oh, The Husband was there too and enjoyed his meal as well, though maybe not to my level of enthusiasm. Had I been travelling solo, this exact meal (save for the dessert), I would have returned the following evening and relished it all over again.
