After finishing our 10K stretch of the Venice marathon, we decided that we more than earned a very lovely lunch. Al Covo, conveniently located between Castello and the Grand Canal, served just that. While the long run had us both wishing for a big plate of cheesy pasta, the Michelin-guide touted Al Covo served up something far more refined. The food and the staff were absolutely wonderful and this restaurant would make an excellent special occasion spot for a cozy date night in the evening. Daylight, post marathon, it felt a bit off for what we were doing, but we committed nonetheless.
An organic prosecco and elegant setting to start.

I started with the delicious pasta vongole, maybe the chicest version of the dish I’d ever had.

The Gentleman opted for something he’d never get from me at home- a giant bowl of mushroom pasta.

My main was the fish of the day, which was a sole served with artichokes. This might be the most elegant plating of an a fish filet that I’d ever seen! The taste stacked up to the presentation as well.

The Gentleman’s lamb was absolutely sublime! After the one bite I had, instantly I had a regret of my own, very delicious, choice. Absolutely, this was the dish I’m continuing to think about a week later and would have me returning!

Al Covo: a great meal for a romantic, refined date night.
