Experience the Eccentric Charm of XS Venice

Just around the corner from other notable hotels on Dorsoduro is the small, but living large, XS Venice. The name fits the crazy interior design, and wilder hotel uniforms (by Dolce & Gabanna) well. It feels like a step into a palace run by your eccentric uncle if you had either of those things.

The small lobby hosts a small lounge with welcoming staff nearby to pour you a glass of prosecco the size of your head or insist you try a few local sweets in abundance on the cocktail tables.

However, the real highlight of the property is the garden that is probably larger than the hotel. A quick stroll had me thinking that this is exactly what I’d want a garden to look like on the Italian villa that I run in my head– (am I the eccentric uncle??).

With bold colored furniture beneath what will soon be stunning trellises, I could really see this as my own backyard. One day?

The lemon trees really outdid themselves which only furthered my enthusiasm.

A few favorite style planters from the south of Italy for a bit of whimsy.

As we booked the room super last minute, we selected the deal that allowed the hotel staff to choose the room category. We were lucky enough to receive an upgrade from the standard room and had an incredibly comfortable room overlooking the garden.

There was an exposed closet and drinks area to get the job done.

The bathroom was standard, but featured fun Ortigia products, a first I’ve seen in a hotel.

Our room view was lovely and we could keep an eye on the garden works which seemed to include a gelato fridge!

The whimsical, or XS, vibe continued throughout the hotel, but the building’s unique architecture and high ceilings kept it feeling very modern and fresh.

XS Venice is another incredible hotel option on Dorsoduro. It’s well out of the way if you’re looking for your own little pied-a-terre and want to feel like a local for a few days. And while we didn’t have the chance, there’s a spa you can privatize if you book in advance. As if we needed a reason to return.
