The first night in San Sebastian brought exciting pinchos bars at every turn. Honestly, there were just too many to choose from and we started selecting based on if the crowds seemed like they were around our age- not parental generation or twenty something debauchery. So, we landed at Fermin Cableton which was absolutely packed (photo of a different night) save for a tiny corner of the bar that suited us just fine.
The barmen were extremely helpful with recommendations and complimentary local wine to try. Seems they were having a good time with the beer themselves and the whole place had the right buzz about it- pun intended.

The first night we fell hard for these carpaccio pinchos, so much so that they drove us back a few days later. Perfectly crusty bread topped with a roll of beef that house a schmear of herby cream cheese and lightly dressed watercress for a nice little peppery crunch. Obsessed. Will be copying these at home over the new year.

The Gentleman was here for the beef so we tried a few more dishes including the meatballs that arrived with the perfect amount of six fries.

…and a shreddy beef sandwhich that wasn’t as great as it’s friends.

While it doesn’t look like much, it was the vibe that kept us haning out. Lots of locals and tourists alike. There was also a gorgeous meatlocker full of steaks, enticing you for a sit down meal. Maybe next time, Mr. Cableton.
